Major activities over the past few decades:

June 2007 to present
I am currently working with Applied Recognition as an independent contractor on their Fotobounce application. This photo management solution utilizes face recognition to identify your friends and family, provides a mobile viewing capability to view photos from most cell phones, and integrates with facebook and flickr to enable the sharing of photos.

September 2000 to July 2007
I have completed my PhD thesis and degree in Computer Science at the University of Toronto. During my program I also completed the following projects:

June 1997 to August 2000
I worked for the Department of Finance in the Faculty of Business at the University of Alberta as a programmer and system administrator. While working for the Business Faculty I had the opportunity to sit in on several MBA level Finance courses. This has given me a basic understanding of how financial markets function. My job was in support of financial and accounting research, and because of that job I have detailed knowledge of several major (commercially available) financial databases.

September 1994 to December 1996
During this time I was working on a Masters of Science (MSc) degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Alberta. For more details about my thesis research and to download my thesis or the software associated with it, please follow this link.

September 1990 to April 1994
I have completed a Bachelors of Science (BSc) in Honours Applied Mathematics at the University of Alberta. My first three years were spent studying Mathematical Physics before I transferred to Applied Math.

In my spare time I write a lot of software. It is my preference and intention to release the software I write as Free Software.
